Safeguarding Democracy

Democracy is under threat. Across the world, authoritarian movements are on the rise. From the AfD in Germany, to Trump in the U.S., Orbán in Hungary, Erdoğan in Turkey, and Modi in India, we are witnessing a global trend of democratic backsliding, the erosion of the rule of law, and increasing restrictions on civil liberties. Democracy is more than just a political system; it is the foundation of a good life. That’s why we must stand together to protect it.

We have founded Safeguarding Democracy to bring together activists and interested people who are committed to defending democracy and opposing authoritarianism – in Germany, the EU, and around the world. Our goal is to educate, learn together, raise awareness, and support one another in taking concrete actions to protect democracy. To achieve this, we have set up a chat group and hold monthly meetings.
